Winemaker's Notes: Fado is our concept wine that represents the special relation between Portuguese culture and wine, something that has existed since grape growing started in Portgual over 2000 years ago. The Fado red was made from 4 grape varieties in eual proportions, Trincaderia, Syrah, Petit Verdot and Touriga Nacional. The grapes were picked at optimum ripeness of fruit flavours and tannins following constant monitoring in the vineyards.
After crushing and desteming the must was cold macerated for 48 hours before the start of fermentation. The wine fermented at 20-22C for 5 days then was drained and pressed. After the malolactic fermentation the wine was aged with French oak for six months.
Tasting Notes: Colour: Vivid red/purple with dark centre. Nose: Ripe red berry fruits with plums and liquorice. Palate: Smooth ripe tannis, spicy fruit and toasty oak on finish.
