95 Points, DECANTER - Mainly Sangiovese (80%), with Cabernet and Merlot making up the blend, this is a great red made from grapes harvested in Chianti Classico and Maremma. The nose shows prunes, cassis, sweet spice and cedar tones, while the glossy palate boasts red, black and blue berries plus pepper notes and dusty tannins.
93 Points, James Suckling - Aromas of strawberry and berry character on nose. Full body, ultra-soft tannins and a silky finish. A beautiful and delicious wine.
88 Points, Wine Advocate - The 2011 Tre (Sangiovese with smaller parts Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon) shows modern touches of spice and leather with cherry fruit and wild flower. The finish is earthy and textured by dusty, fine tannins.
The grapes for our TRE blend were picked by hand, gently pressed, and gravity fed into cone-shaped steel tanks for fermentation at a maximum temperature of 89°F. The grapes remained in contact with the skins for 10 to 15 days, and we used a gentle pestle rather than common pumping methods to preserve the delicate fruit flavors. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation and was aged for 12 months in a mix of new and used French oak barrels with a medium toast.
