88 Points, Wine Enthusiast - BEST BUY. Rubbery at first, then it rounds out and settles down to offer blackberry richness and jammy aromas. The palate is soft, lush and cushioned, while blackberry flavors run sweet, toasty and chocolaty. Remains sweet on the finish, with fig and minty spice flavors.
86 Points, Wine Advocate - The 2010 Malbec spent 9 months in French and American oak. It is an easygoing, friendly, seamless wine with spicy flavors, a smooth texture, and very good length for its humble price. Drink this solid value over the next 3 years.
Winemaker Notes
Winemaker Felipe Stahlschmidt observed flavors of dark cherry, cassis and blackberry fruit in this 2010 Alamos Malbec. A small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon along with Syrah was blended into the final wine The wine was conditioned partly with French oak, partly with American oak before the final blend was assembled giving the wine integrated spice and vanilla oak characteristics. The wine has a full structure and palate weight which makes it enjoyable now, or for years to come.
